Young or old, fashionista or not, everyone loves a good before and after makeover reveal! I personally have been late to work countless times in the last few decades waiting for personalities like Kathy Lee, Hoda and Oprah to show us the end result of the “mini-makeover” done on passerby’s that have no clue what they’re in for. I am not talking about a Momma June moment here, whereby surgeons literally overcame an obstacle course to get to the final product. I am referring to a feel-good, warm-your-heart happy makeover consisting of a new haircut & color, makeup, clothing and accessories, with an exercise program discussion.
Oh, and there will be NO incredible hulk or hulkettes to husk you away to Workout Hell. You will not be making any strides toward pulling a Chevy Love half –ton truck for 30 yards with a rope and your teeth only! I am going to talk about exercise programs at another time because I feel it is monumentally important for people to understand that weight loss by exercise, over abundant and harmful exercise, is not an option or something that anyone should endure in effort to lose weight. Believe me when I tell you, as person who carries a Master’s Degree in exercise physiology, the programs shown on television are dangerous and ineffective.
What I do want to discuss and portray are the makeovers that this particular DREAM TEAM accomplished in just a few hours – and the results are shocking!!! In the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to put together several makeovers for some very deserving individuals in need of a little positive reinforcement! However, with the assistance of TransMedia Group, I was able to put a team of true visionaries together to help make a goal of mine come to fruition.
Let me momentarily digress and tell you why I feel so strongly about providing these mini-makeovers to people. It is important to note that I take a lot of time choosing people that I feel deserve to be taken care of and shown the power of making the most out of the beauty that already exists from not just the exterior, but within.
Every day, we wake up to some sort of negative news on the television, radio, newspaper and now, the inescapable social media channels. I don’t know if our world has gotten worse for the wear or if it’s the abundant media coverage of “bad things” that make it so prevalent on a daily basis? Let’s face it; people love to see other’s misery. I am not sure why, and at this time I won’t discuss it largely because it would take days, I JUST want to see good things happen in our world and to worthy people. I am over-the-top sick and tired of seeing negativity on TV, people hurting each other, wars breaking out, people shooting innocent bystanders – the list goes on and on. I just read an article in the ECONOMIST, (December 2017 issue) that gave some really interesting statistics on unhappiness. What they found was that misery over any other factor was the biggest contributor to unhappiness, depression, and declining mental health. This includes poverty and all other huge variables that I personally cannot control or contribute to make a difference. HOWEVER, I certainly can assist people in getting out of their own misery. At least there is a chance that I can, given the fact that happiness is a choice! It’s time for society to become philanthropic and become givers instead of takers, lovers not haters and doers not slackers.
Makeovers on a large scale primarily show an often shocking change. Yet, what makeovers do at a microscopic level are SIZEABLE to say the least. The dream team and I just completed two of the best makeovers I have ever witnessed. One of the participants is a cancer survivor and the other works at a store where she wears a uniform on a daily basis and has NEVER, EVER NEVER worn make-up! The results……RENDERED EVEN ME, SPEECHLESS for a moment in time.
I could see confidence and happiness improve the moment we let these ladies view the craftsmanship of our amazing team of visionaries. It can be summarized in a simple phrase, our goal was and is:
THE IMMEDIATE GOAL OF THE MAKEOVER IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE PARTICIPANTS LIVES AND HOPE THAT THEY WILL FIND IT BENEFICIAL AND JOYFUL!
In summary, I will say that the wonderful people who donated their time and talent for the cause are some pretty super individuals that actually care as I do. I will provide a list of the team at the end of the article and would highly recommend their services to anyone. When you see the results of the makeovers, undoubtedly you will think to yourself, maybe I will make an appointment today. I did! #IDID! Any questions? I can be reached at the email address above which is Connect @jackiebeardrobinson.org. Feel free to contact me and please join in the discussion on the website. We are in the process of changing some things around to make it easier for you to comment and discuss these topics. In the next week or so we will have the makeover on you-tube so that you can see these masters at work. Enjoy and thanks for the read!
