Greetings and well wishes! I have been thinking about all the beautiful clothing and people and the excitement in the air, truly this is like NEW YEARS DAY – to those that be, in the world of FASHION! Even if you do not physically attend, you can watch every runway show, behind the scenes craziness and much more via you-tube and other venues! The magazines alone are to die for, at least here in the near future. Truth be told, I am mesmerized with FASHION,seriously, I am convinced it makes the world go around! Certainly, it is a universal language we all speak!
Having said that, there seems to be some issues amongst the amazing designers and the Big Dogs who see NYFW as one big, and I do mean BIG
Dollar Sign!
This is how the story goes according to the Business of Fashion, some of the best creative…Thom Brown, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and Altzurra will not be in attendance!!!!! This is a real big problem and people are already calling the week a “snooze fest!” When you have the best of the best, the true FASHION CREATORS boycott the game… I ask, why bother…!
Apparently New York City is all about the money versus the creative design. It is argued that so many more great events on a local level could take place to encourage and show the true specialness of the week, instead it’s all about the runway and that’s it folks!
The second problem is that NYC does not discriminate. They let five hundred (500) brands come in labeled as HAUTE COUTURE – Paris has 100! In my opinion, that alone ruins it, it takes every bit of special away and insults the actual bespoke designers in a way that just lacks a true appreciation for FINE, BEAUTIFUL, SARTORIAL, CHOICE!
Fashion is spectacular, it is an art, it is creativity at it’s finest, it is exciting and monumental in a way!
So in summary, I do say that amid the lackluster enthusiasm I am still almost as excited for what is to come this year. Each year at this time it is like starting a new season – everything is fresh – good – new!
Bottom line is I love fashion even if NYFW goes to the rats!
So in the next few blogs, we will take a look at what is to come in fashion and what do we need to reload in our own closets?
Enjoy
