I had been planning to write this blog for a bit of time when I attended a very informal and fun Holiday Party at a local eatery that is like our home away from home! The reason I am telling you this to start is because it could not have come at a better time.
One of my dearest friends manned an outfit that was “more than hysterical” and if you didn’t know what was going on… well she would have been ‘THAT GIRL’ that everyone was talking about Monday morning. Yes, she works at this particular watering hole we all love!!!! In her defense, the employees were suppose to dress in whacky Holiday Attire, nonetheless the moment was not lost on me! Just check out the attached photos and you can only imagine what I am going to write about today!
Can I first just add that I still cannot stop chuckling when I think of her rolling up her velour overalls because it was 85 degrees outside! Her overalls did bless everyone with Happy Hanukkah however! So, having given that information, let’s chat about the possibilities for the Holiday Party.
The office party can still be fashion fun as long as you are on the side of SIMPLE /CONSERVATIVE/NOT TOO MEMORABLE! Put it this way, you want people to remember you and the interesting facts that they may learn about you other than just an office co-worker!
Just think about surgical nurses and dental workers who always wear scrubs to work, sometimes you don’t even recognize them when they actually get a chance to dress up! Just remember to, “do it right” for the party, you can still wear sparkles and have fun with the holiday clothing, but remember to avoid showing to much skin, think classy and memorable, and always keep it simple. If you even think that you are overdoing it , rest
assured, you are!
Dress to IMPRESS, not intimidate! It is your career and this goes for both men and women. I love to review ETIQUETTE FOR DUMMIES by Sue Fox and ETIQUETTE 18 TH EDITION BY EMILY POST when it comes to matters of the office. So by all means, enjoy that office party and have some fashion fun – JUST NOT TOO MUCH FUN!
Thanks for the read!
